Sorry, Grammys! Travis Kelce Has a Super Reason to Skip Taylor Swift’s Big Night

Why Travis Kelce Won’t Be at the 2025 Grammys with Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce won’t be walking the red carpet at the 2025 Grammy Awards with Taylor Swift—but he has a pretty solid excuse.

While Swift is expected to attend the event at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles this Sunday, Kelce will be laser-focused on something else: preparing for the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has practice leading up to the big game on February 9, where he and his team will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Swift, of course, will be there cheering him on.

The 35-year-old pop icon is no stranger to making history at the Grammys. In November 2024, she became the first woman to receive seven Album of the Year nominations, securing five nods for her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. Last year, she set a new record by winning the top category for Midnights—her fourth win in the coveted slot.

Kelce, also 35, wasn’t at that ceremony either, thanks to Super Bowl obligations. But that didn’t stop him from showing love for Swift. At a pre-game press conference, he praised her achievements, saying, “She’s unbelievable. She’s rewriting the history books herself. I told her I’ll have to hold up my end of the bargain and bring some hardware, too.”

And that’s exactly what he did.

Swift, along with her family and Kelce’s loved ones, watched the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers at last year’s Super Bowl. When the game ended in victory—Chiefs 25, 49ers 22—Swift rushed onto the field to celebrate with Kelce.

“Oh, my God,” she said, beaming as she hugged him. “Unbelievable!”

Kelce has embraced Swift’s world just as much as she’s embraced his. “Taylor has an unbelievable fan base that follows her and supports her throughout her life,” he said. “It’s been fun to gather the Swifties and the Chiefs Kingdom, open them up to the football world, and experience that together.”

With another Super Bowl on the horizon, it looks like history could repeat itself—both on the field and at the Grammys.
